VERY VERY SCARCE WW2 era R. Pilot's TROPICAL Service Dress tunic. That displays the VERY VERY SCARCE 2nd World War (1944 Dated) METAL PILOT'S WINGS Royal New Zealand Air Force Tropical Issue flight suit flight qualification brevet was made to fit-on. UNIQUE in my own experience this WW2 RNZAF jacket was USA MANUFACTURED.

TAILORED by Finchley of Jackson Boulevard Chicago & New York. And I will include1 pair of NZ Marked tropical uniform trousers. (That are exactly correct for wear with this USA-made tunic).

METAL PILOT'S WINGS were u sed ONLY by the R. And by them ONLY in the Tropical Theaters (The Pacific). "SIGNED & DATED" MAKER marked = M. 44 for Mayer and Keane Wellington (New Zealand) 1944.

VERY FEW of these RNZAF pilot wings were ever made Likely LESS than 1-200 pair of pilot's wings. In Warren Carroll's awesome flight brevet collector's reference "Eagles Recalled".

They also made METAL 1/2 wing brevet for navigator, bomb-aimer, engineer etc. These tend to be even scarcer than these "full wings". That BECAUSE the vast majority of the aircraft flown by the TINY RNZAF in The Pacific during WW2 were single-seater FIGHTERS. Toward the END of their brief production-run, Mayer & Keane's STAMPING DIE became well-worn' and the "signature details" SEEN HERE (clearly) are NOT PRESENT on many of those wings produced toward the end of their brief manufacturing run (ONLY made back in 1944).
