In 2002 to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue One Penny Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold. 2002 Great Britain GOLD PROOF 1 PENNY Coin. PCGS Gold-Shield Certified and Graded as PR 67 Deep Cameo (Only 3 Graded higher).

Very low mintage: only 2002 coins minted. Composition 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Silver (22 Carat Gold).

The reverse, designed by Norman Sillman, depicts a crowned portcullis with chains (an adaptation of the Badge of Henry VII which is now the Badge of the Palace of Westminster), denomination in words above and numeral below. The obverse features Ian Rank-Broadley's crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, legend around.
