VERY RARE 1893 British Bayonet. Multiple Markings. A Collectors Must Have
The bayonet is in mint condition, the push button works and has some display of use. This bayonet was made in April 1893 by the firm of Sanderson & Neubold of Sheffield, England. The ricasso is stamped with the royal cypher of Queen Victoria (crown over VR), the production date 4/'93 and the maker's details. The additional stamps are a re-issue dates (1896, 1900 and again in 1903) and inspection stamps (crown over a number and letter). The X indicates that the blade has gone through stress testing. The pommel of the bayonet is stamped with an issue number 387. These bayonets were used in numerous conflicts at the end of the 19th Century and early 20th Century.
