Offered is an impressive 77mm bronze medal, struck by the Royal Mint in commemoration of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, BHM#3219, Wollaston#39, Eimer#1733b. Designed by Boehm and Leighton, this intricate piece depicts Empire, enthroned, flanked by standing figures of Science, Letters, and Art. At left are Industry and Agriculture, and at right are Mercury and Time. In exergue are 5 shields, inscribed ASIA, AMERICA, EUROPE, AUSTRALASIA, and AFRICA. Bearing no major faults, the even mahogany patina really serves to give this already substantial piece a particularly imposing presence.
A fine example of a popular and illusive official mint issue. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
