GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA REX. George the Third by the Grace of God King. Legend above denomination and date, all within an oak wreath. These Bank of England tokens were struck to a standard weight of 227 grains, comprising 202.4 grains pure silver and 24.6 grains alloy. The era of official circulating token coinage that began with the countermarking of Spanish American 8 Reales, would end with the final issue of this type when the New Coinage began to appear.
