Aviation Trophy World War Two Streamlined Airplane Art Deco Award RAF 1940 Rare

  
For sale an unusual Art Deco British aviation award from 1943. This is a large plaque made from I think bakelite, it measures 23" (58 cm) x 14" (36 cm) & is quite heavy. It was a competition held between May 1st & May 8th, 1943. Each county had to reach a targeted amount. The counties that reached that amount were awarded this plaque by the Air Ministry.

The plaque was then hung in the county town hall, library, or similar public location. Michael the Archangel (RAF) slaying the Serpent Devil (Germans)in heaven. He is shown above the clouds with the curve of the earth below & a line of Morse code repeating'V for victory.

Above is the RAF motto in Latin'Through Struggle to the Stars. Excellent condition, no chips or cracks, just some dirty marks. Quite a rare thing in this condition. Photos are part of the description please look carefully. Please look at our other auctions.
