Two Volume Set; Volumes I & II. Fairbairn's Book of Crests of the Families of Great Britain and Ireland. By Fairbairn; (Revised by Arthur Charles Fox-Davies). 491, 142 pages in Volume I and 229 Plates in Volume II. A large, heavy set measuring just over 12 inches tall by 9 1/2 inches wide and weighing about 13 pounds.
Hardcovers bound in quarter burgundy leather. Spines have perished; no leather on the spines. The front cover is holding by two tabs on Volume I and the rear cover is detached. The front cover is also loosening on Volume II, and the rear cover is also detached on that volume. The text blocks are sound on the set.
The text is a little toned but generally clean. This is some occasional cracking in the gutters but overall a solid set.
Great reference for genealogists or those doing research on Family Crests and early bookplates (where crests are often used). If You Have any Questions, Please Do Not Hesitate to Ask! Come visit our OPEN SHOP in Greensboro, North Carolina. Shop Hours: 10-6 Mondays Saturdays.
