Charles II, the last Spanish Habsburg, wanted to prevent the division of the country decided by England, Holland and France in the so-called Partage tract. In his will he made Phillip of Anjou - a grandson of his sister married to King Louis XIV - the sole heir of all his kingdoms.

Emperor Leopold of Austria, on the other hand, demanded Spanish ownership for his son Archduke Karl, which was the trigger for the War of Spanish Succession: Austria, the initially inherited state, allowed the imperial supreme commander, Prince Eugene of Savoy, to advance to Italy in the summer of 1701, where he Duchies of Milan and Mantua conquered. In the Battle of Höchstädt in 1704, to which our medal refers, the Bavarian-French army was completely destroyed by Prince Eugene and the Duke of Marlborough. Battles took place in all Central and Southern European countries for a total of almost 14 years until the Peace of Rastatt was finally signed on March 6, 1714.

The effects of the battle of Blenheim were the prevention of the French from making incursions into Franconia by. Depriving them of the command of the Danube, and the liberation of Swabia by driving them across the Rhine. The Margrave of Baden was not engaged at Blenheim, and took no part with Prince Eugene and the Duke of Marlborough in the victory.

He was jealous of their fame, and therefore thwarted rather than assisted them, and it was with joy that Eugene and Marlborough saw him depart a few days before the battle to undertake the siege of the fortress of Ingolstadt. All items are guaranteed genuine!
