RARE RFC Royal Flying Corps World War 1 WW1 Great War British UK Memorial Plaque

  

Title: World War 1 Plaster Memorial Plaque for Royal Flying Corps soldier in the British Army. Description: Superb memorial plaque house in original oak frame. Ronze patinated plaster relief depicting soldiers erect at a monument w surmounted by an Angel flanked by aircraft, inscribed The Path of Duty was the Way to Glory.

Incredible details on this piece and very aesthetic and multidimensional piece. Original cabinet card encased in glass in the center of a Royal Flying Corps soldier. Piece is backed in original black leatherette board with compartment for access to photo. Relief is housed in the original beautiful layered oak frame with original hanging hooks.

Condition: Good, some chipping and wear as to be expected. Please refer to photos for further condition report. Total size: 17 1/2" by 22" by 1 1/2 depth. Plaster size: 12 1/2" by 16 3/4". Like most, I picked up the collecting bug many years ago when I was younger rummaging through the nooks and crannies of my grandparent's summer house in upstate New York.

Today, you can still see me doing the same thing, only I don't fit through much of those spots anymore but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the thrill of the hunt.
