Historical Group of items that could be framed together for Display. The following WWII items belonged to Sgt. Halsall of the Kings Own Royal Regiment and are dated 1944 when he participated in the Chindit expedition behind Japanese Lines.

1 British Color Military Map of Burma with his name and serial number. Intact, however in fragile condition. Size approx 20 X 18.

2 A Japanese Propaganda flyer directed to the Chin population encouraging them to fight the British. Size approx 7 X 6 inches. 3 A Japanese wartime postcard sent home by Halsall where he mentions being behind Japanese lines (which would have been the Second Chindit expedition, 1944, codenamed Operation Thursday).

I have added this currency note to this grouping that was not part of J. I do not have access to British Military records, He may be pictured here in 1945.

The Chindits were brigades of troops specially organized for guerrilla warfare in "the enemies' guts" in Japanese-occupied Burma in World War II, shutting down rail networks, blowing bridges, and ambushing troops to cripple Axis operations against British, American, and Chinese forces.
