A truly outstanding example of an extremley rare Edward VIII (8th) Scottish Royal Company of Archers (King's Bodyguard of Scotland) dress sword, by STEWART CHRISTIE & CO, 88 GEORGE ST, EDINBURGH. Probably the one in exsistance being from the reign of Edward VIII who abdicated in 1936 before taking his position on the throne. This is also incredibly unusual as it bears a banner in the centre of the blade reading''Royal Company of Archers, King's Bodyguard'. We have never seen this on sword from the Archers.
Crisp blade, beautifully acid etched. Sword is of the finest quality. Hilt of sword is encrusted with fine quality gilding and engraving.
Shell guard beautifully decorated in rocco style, bearing a silver thistle badge (tarnished). The mounts on scabbard are beautifully engraved all over in similar designs. Original scabbard is of black patent leather.
A fine Scottish sword, worthy of a serious collection as this is most likely unique. Any questions please feel free to ask.
